There's a reason she doesn't shy away from walking alone at night - not most of the time, not even when she was still at home. It's because there are just as many things to be aware of in the daylight, and the hour or the time may not always prevent something bad from happening if it's already been set in motion. She'd found David's body in the daytime. She'd been attacked in the early morning. She doesn't fear the shadows. It's what happens in plain sight that causes her heart to leap into her throat.
"Well, I may not be disturbed, necessarily, but I can't say the same for anyone else you might encounter," she responds, taking a step or two forward, unconsciously drawing her cover-up over her bare shoulders when her eyes adjust to the darkness. "What are you doing out here?" It may not be the best idea to linger towards the shadows, but the predictable thing would be to stay out of them - and she's always hated to be pegged as predictable.
